FromSoftware's latest patch adds a fan-requested Boss Rush gauntlet, tunes several weapons, and addresses stability issues.
FromSoftware has released update 1.5 for Elden Ring: Nightreign, bringing a highly anticipated Boss Rush mode that lets players battle through a gauntlet of the game's toughest foes. The patch, which is rolling out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, also includes a significant round of weapon balancing and bug fixes.
The headline feature is the new Boss Rush mode, accessible from the Roundtable Hold after defeating any two Shardbearers. Players can choose from three difficulty tiers — Standard, Hard, and the brutal "Torment" difficulty — and face a sequence of randomly selected bosses with no grace points or flask refills between encounters. Success rewards players with exclusive cosmetic items and a new title for their character nameplate.
Weapon balancing in this update targets several underperforming weapon classes. Greataxes have received a 12% damage increase across the board and improved poise damage, while Flails now scale better with Dexterity, making them a more viable option for quality builds. The Greatsword class also sees minor improvements to attack speed on light attacks, improving their viability in PvP against faster weapon classes.
Several incantations have been adjusted as well. Giantsflame Take Thee now consumes slightly less FP per cast, making it more usable in extended fights, while Rotten Breath's Scarlet Rot buildup has been reduced in PvP to prevent overly dominant rot strategies.
The patch also addresses a stability issue on PC that caused frame drops during certain boss transitions, particularly in the fight against Starscourge Radahn. On console, loading times in Liurnia of the Lakes have been noticeably improved. The Tarnished Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 remains on track for a 2026 release, with more details expected in the coming months.
