About Resident Evil 9: Requiem

The legend returns — Leon S. Kennedy is back

Resident Evil 9: Requiem is Capcom's latest mainline survival horror title, released February 27, 2026. The game features a dual-protagonist structure: veteran agent Leon S. Kennedy and newcomer Grace Ashcroft — daughter of Elisa Ashcroft from Resident Evil: Outbreak.

The story takes place in a haunting European Gothic city overtaken by a new bioweapon outbreak. Leon, now a weathered veteran, must navigate the twisted streets while Grace discovers her own connection to the catastrophe. The game features a new parry system allowing melee weapon deflection of enemy projectiles, improved AI that learns player patterns, and a haunting soundtrack.

Key Features

Dual Protagonists

Play as both Leon Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft. Each has unique abilities and story perspectives. Leon focuses on combat, Grace on survival and puzzle-solving.

New Parry System

Melee weapons can now deflect enemy projectiles including missiles. A well-timed block opens enemies to counter-attacks.

Adaptive AI

Enemies learn from your playstyle. Over-relying on headshots? Enemies start wearing makeshift helmets. New game+ ramps up the challenge significantly.

Leon's Evolution

Leon returns as a weathered "silver fox" — older, grizzled, and more tactical. His design was carefully crafted to satisfy both long-time fans and new players.

Beginner Tips

1. Conserve Ammo

Headshots are your friend. One bullet to the head kills most standard enemies. Don't waste ammo on body shots.

2. Learn to Parry

The new parry system is OP once mastered. Practice on basic enemies before relying on it against bosses.

3. Explore Everything

RE9 rewards thorough exploration. Every corner might hide a lock combination, a file, or an upgrade part.

4. Upgrade Smart

Prioritize weapon damage and reload speed first. Reserve ammo capacity upgrades for your secondary weapon.

5. The DLC Tease

An Ada Wong DLC has been hinted at (though initial reports were debunked). Expect substantial post-launch content.

6. NG+ Matters

New Game+ unlocks higher difficulty levels and exclusive weapons. Your first playthrough is just the beginning.
