Fortnite Chapter 7 Countdown: Neon City Map and UE6 Engine Reveal

Epic Games begins teasing the next era of Fortnite with cinematic teasers hinting at a neon-soaked metropolis and the first implementation of the Unreal Engine 6.

Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 "The Big Score" is winding down, and Epic Games has officially begun teasing what comes next. Teaser images posted across Fortnite's social media channels show silhouettes of towering neon-lit skyscrapers reflected in rain-slicked streets, strongly suggesting that Chapter 7 will introduce an urban-centric map inspired by classic cyberpunk aesthetics.

The most exciting revelation came from a separate developer blog post, where Epic confirmed that Chapter 7 will debut a new version of Fortnite built on Unreal Engine 6 (UE6). This marks the first public implementation of Epic's next-generation engine in a shipping title, promising significant visual upgrades including real-time ray tracing, improved destruction physics, and dynamic weather systems that affect gameplay — such as rain reducing visibility and wind altering projectile trajectories.

Leaks and data mines have pointed to the new map being called "Neon City," a sprawling vertical metropolis with drivable highways, underground transit tunnels, and building interiors that players can fight through. The Chapter 7 theme is rumored to be "Neon Nights," featuring a cyberpunk-inspired aesthetic with new weapons, vehicles, and NPC factions.

Epic is expected to hold a Summer Showcase event next week where the full Chapter 7 reveal, UE6 features, and a roadmap for the next year of content will be detailed. The current season's "Big Score" finale event is scheduled for June 27, with Chapter 7 likely going live shortly after on June 28 or 29.
