Epic Games announces 'The Big Score,' a live community heist event for Chapter 6 Season 3, tasking players with cracking the vault at Neon Reach this Saturday for exclusive rewards.
Epic Games has just announced "The Big Score" — the first live community event of Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3: Heist Protocol. Scheduled for this Saturday, May 30, at 2 PM ET, The Big Score is an interactive heist mission that will transform the Neon Reach POI into a massive cooperative puzzle-solving experience, with all players on a server working together to crack the central vault.
How It Works
The event introduces a new live-event framework called "Dynamic Heist." Unlike traditional Fortnite live events where players watch a cinematic sequence, The Big Score is fully interactive. At the appointed time, all players in a match will see a countdown appear at Neon Reach. Those who choose to participate must work together to complete a series of timed hacking challenges spread across the vault exterior, each protected by waves of shadowy IO Guards armed with mythic-tier weapons.
The heist unfolds in four phases: Phase 1 — Infiltration (breach three laser-grid access points simultaneously), Phase 2 — Code Breaking (solve a community-wide encryption puzzle visible on the vault's digital display), Phase 3 — Extraction (defend the drilling process from an escalating waves of enemy NPCs), and Phase 4 — Getaway (escape the blast radius before the vault's self-destruct sequence detonates).
Exclusive Rewards
All players who successfully complete the event will earn the exclusive "Master Heist" loading screen and banner icon. But the real prize comes from a unique mechanic: the first 100 players globally to complete the full heist will receive a special "First to Crack" title and a limited-edition Heistbreaker Pickaxe with reactive effects. Additionally, players who complete Phase 2's code-breaking challenge within the first five minutes will unlock the "Quick Hands" spray.
"The Big Score is unlike anything we've done before in Fortnite," said Epic's creative director in the announcement trailer. "This isn't a movie you watch — it's a mission you execute. Every player matters, every second counts, and the vault won't crack itself."
Event Lore and Consequences
The event is tied directly to Chapter 6 Season 3's ongoing narrative. The vault at Neon Reach is said to contain "Zero Point Fragments" — remnants of the reality-bending artifact that powers the entire Fortnite multiverse. Successfully cracking the vault will progress the season's story toward the impending mid-season content drop, which data miners have linked to the rumored Ocean's Eleven collaboration.
For players preparing for the event, Epic recommends stocking up on shield potions, having a squad ready with voice communication, and landing at Neon Reach in at least three practice matches beforehand to familiarize yourself with the vault layout. "The Big Score" will be available in all core Battle Royale modes including solos, duos, trios, and squads. There will be special limited-time playlists launching 24 hours before the event to help players practice.
Mark your calendars — this Saturday, the biggest heist in Fortnite history begins.
