Craig Burnatowski, who voiced Albert Wesker in RE4 Remake and the new villain Zeno in Resident Evil: Requiem, has been accused of domestic abuse by a streamer. The convention host has since removed him from the guest list.
Streamer Monica Deniz, an artist and online personality, has accused Craig Burnatowski of psychological manipulation and physical abuse during their one-year relationship. In a social media post that went viral on July 9, Deniz detailed allegations of emotional and physical harm, stating that Burnatowski caused her injuries on two occasions — one of which, she claims, still requires ongoing medical attention from a surgical specialist.
Deniz stated that she had been silent for four months after the breakup but decided to speak out publicly. "I no longer want to protect someone who hurt me," she wrote, acknowledging the risk of harassment and threats that often accompany such public allegations.
The allegations quickly spread across social media, reaching Fantasy & Magic Con in Warsaw, Poland, where Burnatowski was scheduled to appear as a special guest for autograph sessions and a Resident Evil panel. The event organizer initially issued a cautious statement saying they would not "rush to judgment before facts are clarified," but quickly changed course. Just hours later, the convention officially announced that Burnatowski would no longer attend. Refunds were offered to fans who had purchased photo ops, autograph tickets, or group photo packages involving the actor's appearance.
Burnatowski responded on Instagram, denying all allegations. He stated that mutual respect and consent are core values he lives by, and that he was "deeply hurt" by what he described as "baseless accusations" from a former partner. He claimed that Deniz had visited him at least five times, was warmly received by his friends and family, and that their relationship had never involved aggressive conflict.
"I am shocked to see these fabricated claims," Burnatowski wrote. "None of this is true." He expressed confusion about why Deniz would make such statements.
The controversy has sparked widespread discussion across the Resident Evil fan community, with some fans expressing support for Deniz and others calling for due process. Neither Capcom nor the RE: Requiem development team has issued an official statement regarding the allegations or Burnatowski's role in the franchise going forward.
