RE:9 Requiem Update 2.1 Patch Notes Released — New Ada Wong Mercenaries Map, Bug Fixes

Capcom drops Update 2.1 for RE:9 Requiem, featuring a brand new Ada Wong-themed Mercenaries map set in a Spanish monastery, critical leaderboard bug fixes, weapon balance tweaks, and quality-of-life improvements.

Capcom has released the official patch notes for RE:9 Requiem Update 2.1, bringing fresh content and meaningful improvements to the game that has been sustaining impressive player numbers since the massive Update 2.0 overhaul.

▎New Map: "Monasterio de la Sangre" (Blood Monastery)
The headline addition is a brand new Mercenaries map themed around Ada Wong's solo mission in RE:9. Set in a crumbling Spanish monastery perched on a cliffside, "Monasterio de la Sangre" features a vertical three-tier layout with narrow cloisters on the ground floor, an ornate chapel on the middle level, and a bell tower rooftop with sweeping views of the Mediterranean. The map introduces environmental hazards including collapsing floorboards that give way to rat-infested catacombs below, and a massive church bell that can be rung to stun nearby enemies at the cost of attracting a larger horde.

Ada Wong is the featured character for the new map, and she comes with a unique loadout that emphasizes precision and mobility: her signature Blacktail pistol with a custom compensator for reduced recoil, a burst-fire assault rifle for mid-range engagements, and a new "grapple hook" tool that allows her to quickly ascend between the map's three tiers. Early access players have praised the map's flow, noting that the vertical design creates dynamic combat encounters that feel distinct from any existing Mercenaries stage.

▎Leaderboard Fixes and Anti-Cheat Improvements
Update 2.1 also addresses a long-standing community frustration: leaderboard integrity. Capcom's patch notes confirm that the update implements server-side validation for Mercenaries mode score submissions, effectively eliminating the save-edited scores that have plagued the global leaderboards since Update 2.0 launched. The update retroactively scrubs invalid scores from the database, meaning the leaderboards should now reflect legitimate player achievements.

▎Weapon Balance
Several weapons receive targeted adjustments in Update 2.1. The LE-5 SMG sees a 10% damage buff to bring it in line with its full-auto peers, the M1897 shotgun's effective range is reduced by 15% after data showed it outperforming all other shotguns at medium range, and the Handcannon's reload speed is decreased by 0.3 seconds as a minor quality-of-life improvement.

▎Looking Ahead
Capcom also hinted in the patch notes that "more Halloween-themed content" is in development, building on the teasers dropped in mid-July. While no dates were confirmed, the wording suggests a seasonal event could arrive as soon as late September. Combined with ongoing Code: Veronica Remake development, the Resident Evil franchise shows no signs of slowing down through 2026 and beyond.

Zhan's Guide will have full map guides and Ada Wong Mercenaries strategies published within the week. Stay tuned for our complete Update 2.1 coverage.
