Capcom rolls out a new patch for Resident Evil 9: Requiem addressing key community feedback, rebalancing the toughest difficulty, and adding creative tools for screenshot enthusiasts.
Capcom has released update 1.07 for Resident Evil 9: Requiem, delivering a suite of gameplay improvements, bug fixes, and new features based on ongoing community feedback. The update is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms.
Professional Difficulty Rebalance
The headline feature of update 1.07 is a significant rebalancing of Professional difficulty. Players had reported that certain enemy encounters in the mid-to-late game sections felt disproportionately punishing, particularly the abandoned cathedral sequence and the final confrontation aboard the Requiem vessel. Capcom has adjusted enemy HP scaling, attack patterns in specific encounters, and slightly increased the availability of healing resources on Professional mode. The goal, according to the patch notes, is to maintain the intensity of survival horror while removing "unfair difficulty spikes."
Expanded Photo Mode
Photography fans have reason to celebrate. Update 1.07 adds a comprehensive photo mode overhaul that includes: free camera movement (including tilt and roll), depth of field adjustments, 20 new filters including retro horror VHS effects, character expression control for Grace and Leon, and the ability to hide UI elements entirely. Players can now capture Grace Ashcroft's signature style moments or the game's grotesque creature designs in stunning detail.
Bug Fixes and Improvements
The patch addresses several community-reported issues: fixed a crash that could occur during the Grace chapter 3 sewer sequence on PS5; resolved audio desync in the final boss cinematic on all platforms; improved DLSS 4 frame generation stability for PC players using RTX 50-series GPUs; fixed an issue where the Doomsday skin visual effects would occasionally fail to render during gameplay; and corrected a progression blocker in Leon's mercenaries mode where key cards would not spawn under specific conditions.
Performance Optimizations
Capcom continues its commitment to platform optimization. Update 1.07 includes memory usage improvements that reduce stuttering in high-density areas, particularly the overrun streets of the third act. Xbox Series S players should see improved texture streaming, and PS5 Pro users will benefit from enhanced PSSR upscaling quality when running at 120Hz output mode.
The update is approximately 4.8 GB on PlayStation 5, 5.2 GB on Xbox Series X|S, and 3.9 GB on PC via Steam. As always, cross-platform progression remains supported through the RE NET account system.
With the recent Doomsday Grace skin and now this substantial patch, Capcom continues to show strong post-launch support for RE:9 Requiem, which has already sold over 8 million copies worldwide since its launch.
