RE:9 Requiem June 10 Update Preview — New Game+ and Mercenaries Mode Details Emerge

With just 2 days remaining until the highly anticipated June 10 update for Resident Evil 9: Requiem, a wave of new details has emerged regarding the content and features coming in this major patch. Capcom is preparing to deliver what many are calling the most substantial post-launch update for the franchise to date.

The centerpiece of the update is undoubtedly the New Game+ mode, which will allow players to replay the entire campaign with all their unlocked weapons, upgrades, and inventory items. According to early preview materials, New Game+ will feature increased enemy density, tougher variant enemies, and exclusive unlockables that cannot be obtained in a standard playthrough. A new "Inferno" difficulty tier will also be available exclusively in NG+, offering the ultimate challenge for survival horror veterans.

The Mercenaries mode, a beloved series staple, is making a grand return with RE:9 Requiem's version featuring a roster of 8 playable characters, including both new protagonists and returning fan favorites. Each character will have unique loadouts and special abilities, adding significant replay value. The mode will launch with 5 distinct maps drawn from key locations in the Requiem campaign, with additional maps promised as free post-launch content.

Balancing changes are also on the horizon. Capcom has confirmed adjustments to weapon upgrade costs, making the early game slightly more forgiving while ensuring late-game resource management remains tense. Enemy AI improvements have been highlighted as a focus area, with zombies and mutated creatures demonstrating more unpredictable behavior patterns and improved environmental awareness.

The update will also address several quality-of-life concerns raised by the community since launch. These include a photo mode with extensive filters and framing options, expanded subtitle and accessibility settings, and performance optimizations for both console and PC platforms. On PC, the update will add support for AMD FSR 3.0 and NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 upscaling technologies.

Finally, the update lays the groundwork for the upcoming Code Veronica remake integration. Capcom has hinted at cross-game unlockables and narrative connections between RE:9 and the upcoming remake, further expanding the interconnected Resident Evil universe. The June 10 update is shaping up to be a pivotal moment for RE:9 Requiem, and Zhan's Guide will have complete coverage when it goes live.
