Capcom details the 'Requiem: Nightmare' Halloween event with full cosmetics list, roguelike Nightmare Survival mode mechanics, and community challenge rewards set for October release.
Capcom has released full details for the upcoming RE:9 Requiem Halloween event "Requiem: Nightmare", scheduled to run throughout October. The event, which was first teased alongside the Update 2.1 patch notes, promises to be the largest seasonal content drop for the survival horror title since its record-breaking launch.
The centerpiece of the event is Nightmare Survival, a new roguelike Mercenaries variant that challenges players to survive increasingly difficult waves of enemies with randomized loadouts. Unlike the standard Mercenaries mode, Nightmare Survival features permadeath mechanics — once a character falls, the entire run ends. Each successful wave awards "Nightmare Tokens" that can be exchanged at a dedicated event shop for exclusive cosmetics and upgrade components for subsequent runs.
Capcom has confirmed six unique enemy variants exclusive to the event, including the "Crimson Ganado" — faster, harder-hitting variants of the standard cultist enemies — and the terrifying "Lament Wraith," a spectral enemy that can phase through walls and must be slowed using environmental light sources. Boss encounters have also been reworked, with the Weeping Chorus receiving a Halloween-themed "Nightmare" variant featuring new attack patterns.
The full cosmetics lineup includes:
• Leon S. Kennedy — "Vampire Hunter" outfit (classic Belmont-inspired leather coat + whip melee reskin)
• Grace Ashcroft — "Pumpkin Witch" outfit (seasonal spell effects + jack-o-lantern projectile reskin)
• Jill Valentine — "Ghostbuster" outfit (RE3 parody with proton pack gadget reskin)
• Albert Wesker — "Dracula" outfit (flowing cape, blood-red sunglasses, enhanced dark aura)
• Limited weapon skins: "Blood Moon" shotgun skin, "Crypt Keeper" magnum skin
Community challenges will also be a major component of the event. Capcom has set global collective goals — such as eliminating 50 million total enemies and surviving 1 million Nightmare Survival waves — with tiered rewards for all players. If the community reaches the final milestone, all participants will receive an exclusive "Nightmare Lord" title and a special weapon charm.
Update 2.1, which dropped earlier this week, laid the groundwork for the Halloween event with bug fixes, leaderboard stability improvements, and the Ada Wong-themed Monastery Mercenaries map. Player counts continue to hover at 3x pre-Update 2.0 levels, with Capcom confirming that the Halloween event is expected to drive further engagement spikes through October.
