Capcom's recently announced Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake continues to generate buzz following its Summer Game Fest reveal. Today, well-known Capcom insider Dusk Golem provided reassuring details for concerned fans: the remake will be fully third-person and will not cut any content from the original 2000 classic.
The clarification came after the initial SGF teaser caused confusion among viewers. The trailer opened with a first-person perspective shot, leading many to fear that Capcom was following the Resident Evil 7/8 first-person model. Dusk Golem quickly took to social media to confirm that Code Veronica Remake will use an over-the-shoulder third-person camera system closely resembling Resident Evil 4 Remake's approach.
Regarding content, the insider emphasized that the development team is not simply remastering the original frame-by-frame. Instead, Capcom is undertaking a comprehensive reimagining: certain story beats, locations, and narrative sequences will be repositioned, redesigned, or reworked to create a more cohesive modern experience. However, no original content is being removed — the Antarctic facility, Steve Burnside's arc, and the infamous tyrant battle are all confirmed to remain.
Meanwhile, RE:9 Requiem players have their own reason to be excited. The massive June 10 content update — bringing New Game+ mode and an expanded Mercenaries mode — is now just three days away. Capcom has confirmed that the update will introduce multiple new Mercenaries stages featuring Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine as playable characters, alongside a fully realized New Game+ system with carry-over upgrades and additional difficulty modifiers.
Capcom's simultaneous focus on both a beloved classic remake and live content support for RE:9 demonstrates the company's commitment to the survival horror franchise. For fans of the series, this June is shaping up to be an exceptionally eventful month.
