Modern Warfare 4 Gameplay Debuts at Summer Game Fest 2026 — Full Campaign and Multiplayer Breakdown

Infinity Ward took the Summer Game Fest 2026 main stage to deliver an extended gameplay showcase for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, offering fans their most detailed look yet at the highly anticipated title. The presentation spanned over 12 minutes, covering campaign missions, multiplayer maps, and the Warzone: Nexus integration.

The campaign segment showcased a high-stakes mission set in a near-future Istanbul, demonstrating the IW 10.0 engine's capabilities with dynamic destruction on an unprecedented scale. Players control Captain Price and the newly revealed recruit Park, working together to neutralize a rogue AI threat that serves as the central antagonist. The mission highlighted omni-directional sprint mechanics, dynamic mantle climbing, and reactive AI that adapts to player strategies.

On the multiplayer front, Infinity Ward confirmed the return of the classic "Rust" and "Terminal" maps in fully remastered form, alongside three new maps unveiled at the event. One standout, "Neon Grid," takes place in a neon-lit futuristic data center with vertical combat pathways. The movement overhaul was on full display — players can now wall-kick for brief wall-running segments, chain slides into tactical sprints, and mantle through windows without breaking stride.

Warzone: Nexus also received significant screen time. The flooded Venice-inspired city map features interactive gondola ziplines, flooded building interiors, and a dynamic storm system that shifts the playable area in unexpected ways. The new Nexus extraction mode positions teams to complete contracts and extract with loot, blending elements of DMZ with traditional battle royale gameplay.

Infinity Ward confirmed that pre-orders for all platforms — including the newly announced Nintendo Switch 2 version — are now live. The standard edition is priced at $79.99, marking the first mainline Call of Duty title to break the $70 barrier. A multiplayer beta is expected in July, with the full game launching November 6.
