COD 2026: Infinity Ward Officially Reveals Modern Warfare 4 — Campaign Trailer Drops

Infinity Ward officially unveils Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 with a cinematic campaign trailer, confirming a November 2026 release date and teasing a fully interconnected Warzone experience built on the new IW 10.0 engine.

At the opening of the 2026 Summer Game Fest, Infinity Ward delivered what fans have been waiting for — the official reveal of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The cinematic trailer, clocking in at nearly three minutes, offers the first substantial look at the next chapter in the Modern Warfare saga, featuring a dramatic storyline set in the late 2030s, centered on the rise of autonomous AI warfare.

The trailer introduces players to a new generation of Task Force 141 operators. While familiar faces like Captain Price (now serving in a strategic advisory role) and the iconic "Simon 'Ghost' Riley" make appearances, the spotlight falls on two new protagonists: Lieutenant Ava Chen, a drone warfare specialist grappling with the ethics of autonomous combat systems, and Sergeant Marcus Cole, an infantry veteran caught in the chaos of a war fought by algorithms. The narrative appears to explore the tension between human soldiers and AI-driven military systems — a premise that resonates deeply in an era of real-world debates about autonomous weapons.

Modern Warfare 4 is being built on the brand-new IW 10.0 engine, which the trailer showcases with stunning fidelity. Dynamic environmental destruction takes center stage — a skyscraper collapses in real-time during one sequence, with debris physics affecting both gameplay and the environment. The engine also supports volumetric clouds, advanced water simulation, and ray-traced global illumination that was shown running on both PlayStation 5 Pro and high-end PC hardware.

Infinity Ward also confirmed the release window: November 6, 2026, setting up a blockbuster showdown with GTA 6's November 19 launch. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The multiplayer beta is slated for September, with early access for pre-order customers.

The Warzone integration was another major talking point. Warzone: Nexus will serve as the unified battle royale platform connecting MW4 with previous titles. The new map, codenamed "Sunken Coast," is set in a flooded European coastal city featuring both dense urban combat zones and open-water navigation. Importantly, all weapon progression and cosmetic inventories from Modern Warfare 3 (2025) will carry forward, ensuring that returning players don't lose their hard-earned collections.

The Call of Duty Mobile crossover with The Boys, announced earlier this week, also received a new trailer during the show. The collaboration brings Homelander, Starlight, and Black Noir as limited-time operators to Call of Duty Mobile starting June 1, with signature abilities inspired by the hit Amazon series.

With MW4's official reveal now in the books and a full gameplay showcase scheduled for the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8, the Call of Duty community has plenty to look forward to. The campaign trailer alone has amassed over 12 million views across YouTube and social media platforms within the first four hours of its release.
